About the Work

This work is a visual meditation on water as a sacred source of life and a symbol of divine mercy in Islamic thought. Inspired by the pure waters of Paradise, it imagines a being that carries within it a trace of Jannah. Combining the form of a fish with a feminine presence, the figure exists as a symbolic vessel of divine light (nur) rather than a literal creature. The fish represents the unseen currents of creation and continuous motion, while the feminine form reflects beauty, nurturing, and divine artistry. Their union suggests a harmony between dunya and akhirah, where the earthly world becomes a reflection of a higher reality. Through this work, viewers are invited to see nature as a manifestation of divine signs (ayat), recognizing that even a single drop of water carries the memory of Paradise.
